On Monday 3rd October, Warragul Fire Brigade’s weekly training was interrupted by a call out to a "small fire on a lawn" in Somerset Drive, Warragul.
Warragul Tanker and Hazmat turned out Code 3 to the incident.
Once on scene, Incident Controller Firefighter Dalrymple put a wordback of a "Non-Structure Fire Stop" due to the fire being a controlled burn off of wet and green plant waste in a metal fire tub.
The fire had been burning for two days, but the occupant had only that night started to burn wet and green material causing excessive smoke.
The owner was made aware of Baw Baw Shire’s Local Laws regarding burning off of green or other material in an urban area and asked to extinguish the fire as they had no permit to do so.
