By law all non domestic premises including business and industry are required to have their fire protection equipment inspected and tested every six months, this is known as Fire Equipment Maintenance (FEM). In Victoria there are some fire brigades that conduct their own servicing and maintenance of fire related equipment located at business and industry workplaces within their own brigade area.
With the local Fire Brigade carrying out this service it raises valuable funds for the Brigade to keep its vehicles and equipment up to date so we can better protect our community. Warragul Fire Brigade offers this service to local business and industry in the Warragul district and deals with the fire prevention, safety and suppression systems of your premises. However Warragul Fire Brigade, along with a growing number of other brigades in Victoria, contracts this work out to a private company known as VERST Fire Services. By doing this the brigade saves its volunteer members the added workload of FEM, whilst enabling the brigade to receive a sizeable percentage of profit from the contractor, in return for choosing them as the nominated contractor for our area.
There are several other companies operating within the business district of Warragul, however these companies receive all profit, thus not passing on any allowance to the local fire brigade. Therefore the Warragul Fire Brigade recommends VERST Fire Services as the preferred supplier of FEM services to the district of Warragul. This is a very important service that the Brigade offers its clients, if you get a fire at your premises, it is important to know that your fire equipment e.g. fire extinguisher, hose reel etc. will work when required. If you would like further information or to have someone call into your workplace to discuss this vital service please contact us at fem@warragulcfa.org.au
